  22. I recently adopted one of the new designs offered for my blogspot.com site, and I can't find
    < div class=' post-footer-line post-footer-line-1 ' >
in it. Has anyone else had trouble with that? I'd love to add these share buttons -- they look great, much better than what I'm using now -- but I'm at a loss where to put them in the new blogger template.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @John Z. : All regular Blogger Templates have this code part but maybe you use a template without footer line, it's possible.

If you use regular template: The problem may be, You use new template designer or you forget to tick "Expand Widget Templates". You should use "Edit HTML" section and Tick "Expand Widget Templates" After this you can use (CTRL+F) for searching the code in your page with the keyword " post-footer-line post-footer-line-1 "

Please let me know, if it's not working. In this case, probably you use a template without footer line. So please write here your link and i can try to find another place for this code.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @chhincapie : I don't recommend " : " because browsers can think it's a part of script. Probably it will be a problem. But if you want to use it like " Post Title http://bit.ly/b2okkE " There is a way. I've tried to explain it in This Zip File I hope it helps.

When I visit your site, i couldn't view any Blogspot graphics. It means your site is not show any Blogspot graphics. And these buttons' graphics hosted on Blogspot.

Here is a screen shot of your blog.

By the way; probably your visitors not able to view your site properly, too. Firstly try to remove "Right Click Protection" if it's not helping; In this case you should change your site template, It helps.

  48. Thank you Sedat this is excellent I'm just having problems with the twitter button it doesn't seem to open a link? Do I need to edit it..? thanks Rusty

    ReplyDelete
  49. Usually, at the bottom of a blog post (in blogger), there will be three links- older post, newer post and home (even in your blog, you can see them between adsense ads and Blog Archive).

Recently, I came across a blog, in which these links were replaced by icons (forward arrow, backward arrow and pic of a house). So, I wanted to know if you had these type of icons. That's what I meant in my last comment.

I have already searched your blog but, could not find such type of icons. As you are a web designer, it would be helpful if you could design one. Thanks for replying.. :-)

  50. @Admin : I have just tested twitter button and it's working now. Twitter uses a java script, contingently java scripts can be disabled in Google Chrome. Can you check it on http://www.fitwise.com/testjava.asp with chrome?

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Creation Art Cards : You're welcome. I'm glad you like it. Actually you don't need to edit anything. If it doesn't seem to open a link; probably Java Scripts disabled in your browser settings. Please visit http://www.chami.com/tips/internet/020597I.html And see how to disable and enable Java in your browser. If Java enabled and it's still not working, Please tell me which browser that you use.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @imntjack.in : Thanks, i understand now. I don't have any buttons like that. But It's a good idea. I think, i can do it. I'll write back to you, soon... Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  53. @Admin & @Creation Art Cards : I've just discovered that; Pop-Up Blockers disable twitter button. If you are using Google Chrome, you should give a permission to the site on the right of the address bar.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thanks again, yes that's all it was!! The pop up blocker in chrome, strange it was only blocking the twitter button.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hey Sedat, Hello again. Thanks for replying.. I will be waiting for 'your version' of the buttons..

    ReplyDelete
  56. To Everyone : I've updated button codes. Twitter Button problem with Google Chrome Fixed. I've used Twitter.com's original share api. There is no more Java Script, just html. This will make it more stable and safe. But Twitter shows some part of original source url, maybe they will change it in the future. For now if you want to update your codes; you can replace just twitter code line.

By the way, I'll publish an article about how to convert Blogger navigation links to images. Please visit my blog soon.

Thanks for reading. Keep in touch. See you.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wow!! Sedat, you are super cool, man.. You designed the navigation buttons in just one day!! I am really amazed.. Thanks for your prompt action..

    ReplyDelete
  58. Wow it's so simple way to add share button. i want to use that, but may i change your link button on list of that? (sA button)

    ReplyDelete
  59. @fenny : Thanks. Yes, you may change it or you may remove it if you want. No problem.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Wow, this is amazing! I used to have the Tweetmeme and Facebookmeme or something like that, and it slowed my blog so badly. I really love what you've done here :)

  63. Thank you so much! I added this in my blog! Great help! I've been looking for something like this for quite sometime! THANKS SO MUCH!

    Here's my blog:
    http://zupermia.blogspot.com/

With the share buttons, it's close to perfection! :D thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Really great work..It looks very nice in my blog.thanks a lot buddy.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thanks for this. I used it below the post and it works perfectly. But why doesn't it work on the sidebar?

    ReplyDelete
  66. @Pepe : You're welcome... There are a lot of sidebar sharing buttons on internet and also we have a share button on the Blogger Navigation Bar But They can share just links that you've reading. If we think, most of the people wants to share posts (not the web site) so this style is a better idea.

This sharing buttons are connected to blog posts and it can share true post information while you are sharing a link. Even you can share a blog post while you are reading the main page. I think these buttons are helping and exhorting to share a post, too.

But if you still need a sharing button on your sidebar; I recommend http://sharethis.com/ Actually the best is using them together. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  67. very nice, but maybe u can add on twitter button when i send from my blog to be "via @ mynic" can u understand me ?

    thx

    ReplyDelete
  68. @Anonymous : Thanks. Yes It's possible but we need to write our Twitter User Name Manually.

For example: If you replace twitter code with this one http://kurtulusticaret.com/stk/twitter-via-share.txt When you share something it will look like; " Post Title via @SedatKurtulus http://t.co/bvRHyhb "

You can use this code after editing Twitter User Name.

    ReplyDelete
  69. @Sedat Kurtulus thanks so much now I love it :) u are great

  74. Just what I was looking for! However I can't seem to get to do anything meaning linking anywhere - what am I doing wrong? I copied just the two (twitter and fb) that I wanted into the html for my blog but they don't link when I try to click on them?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  75. @Katrine : Hi. These buttons works on Blogger.com or Blogspot.com platform, If you are using another blog platform; you see just button's images. If you are a Blogger user; probably you have copied codes to wrong place. You should copy these codes just after post-footer-line-1 Or if you give me your blog address, I'll take a look, too.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Like it, nice clean and simple, without the messy "via @addtoany" label attached to the end of the tweet.

What I would like is to have the ability to have "via @my username" when people tweet form my blog. Any ideas? : )

    ReplyDelete
  79. @Brunton : Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it.

If you replace twitter code with this one http://kurtulusticaret.com/stk/twitter-via-share.txt When you share something it will look like; " Post Title via @SedatKurtulus http://t.co/bvRHyhb " You should just edit my name with your Twitter user name.

    Have a nice blogging!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Ah.. that works like a charm, thanks! @SedatKurtulus

Can I ask, did the URL to the link used to be truncated in the previous code?

    ReplyDelete
  81. @Brunton : You're Welcome. :)

First of all, I'm not good at English. If I understood right; you're talking about URL Shortening. If I'm wrong, Please help me to understand...

We use Twitter Api Code for links. When you share a link; Twitter make a short link for your original link.

But Twitter shows a short part of your original link in Twitter.com

If your Twitter account is connected to another platform (like Myspace or Buzz) you see a short link like http://t.co/bvRHyhb

    ReplyDelete
  82. @SedatKurtulus

Yes sorry, I mean 'URL shortening'.

But somethign seems to have changed now.

Instead of showing [Title URL via @me] - it just shows a shortened URL in the first post box. Once it has posted, it shows the half of the long url with... after it?

    Example: http://twitter.com/#!/stevenbrunton

    ReplyDelete
  83. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  84. So for example when I click on the twitter link is just comes up with: [\ http://t.co/DHB3qOq]
and on the actual twitter page it comes up with only:

    Instead of looking like:
    ['Post Title' http://t.co/bvRHyhb via @stevenbrunton]

    ReplyDelete
  85. @Brunton : I've visited your blog. It happens just for your recent post ('Plastic Bag' Directed by R. Bahrani) When I tried to share your second post (2 Reel Guys: Episodes 1 - 15) There isn't any problem. It's looking like (2 Reel Guys: Episodes 1 - 15 via @StevenBrunton http://t.co/IbStC3a)

Some of ASCII Character Codes are not safe for web; like ' # / < > _ because these are part of HTML codes. In this case the problem is your post title 'Plastic Bag' You should rename it to "Plastic Bag" or `Plastic Bag`

After it; you'll see it like ("Plastic Bag" Directed by R. Bahrani via @stevenbrunton relievo.blogspot.com/2011/01/plasti...) in Twitter.com

In all other platforms; you'll see it like ("Plastic Bag" Directed by R. Bahrani via @stevenbrunton http://t.co/DHB3qOq)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Hey @Kurtulus

That worked. How very interesting. It was good that you know what the problem was?! How strange? lol

I will remember this in future than you!

I have one last question, it there a way to have 'via @username' at the end instead of the middle?

Thank you once again : )

    ReplyDelete
  87. Strange, the URL turns into a long URL one it has been posted?

    ReplyDelete
  88. @Brunton : You're welcome. I'm glad it helped. :)

Yes, there is a way to have 'via @username' at the end instead of the middle; but you need to replace Twitter code again with http://kurtulusticaret.com/stk/twitter-via-share-2.txt

It will look like (Post Title http://t.co/bvRHyhb via @username)

The URL looking like a long URL when it has been posted. Because Twitter.Api shows a long URL in Twitter.com but you'll see a short URL In all other platforms, at the same time. I'm sorry about it. We can not do anything about it.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yes it looks correct in Hootsuite. Thanks ; )

  105. I have a problem with the retweet on subjects which have & and % characters inside... Please help!

    ReplyDelete
  106. @piggycide.co.uk : it's because of font character. You should try to use web safe ASCII characters. Take a look at http://www.web-source.net/symbols.htm

    ReplyDelete
  107. Thanks @Sedat Kurtulus.. but how to deal with a subject such as 'Save 20% off ...'?

    ReplyDelete
  108. @piggycide.co.uk : Actually; there isn't a solution because these sharing codes are just HTML so you have to use javascript sharing widgets or you can use Save %20 instead of Save 20% it makes differences, at least you'll be able to tweet without "%20". I don't have any solution for it. I'm sorry about it.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Wow, thanks!

I'm facing difficulties to use blogger default sharing buttons (because I'm using custom template) and this really help.

But may I know if there is a way to open the new window automatically when readers click on any of the buttons? (like the default sharing buttons on blogger do)

    ReplyDelete
  110. @Van der Rui : Thank you. I'm glad you like it. Actually there is a way to do that but pop-up blockers and sharing pages makes problem sometimes. If you want to use it like that; you should add this code in every button's code target="_blank"

    ReplyDelete
  111. Ok, but where should I put the code (target="_blank")? Before of after the button's code?

*I'm new to html and css things.

    ReplyDelete

  126. Thanks again, yes that's all it was!! The pop up blocker in chrome, strange it was only blocking the twitter button.

  127. @Admin : I have just tested twitter button and it's working now. Twitter uses a java script, contingently java scripts can be disabled in Google Chrome. Can you check it on http://www.fitwise.com/testjava.asp with chrome?

  130. Thank you so much! I've used addthis for your years but the popups look archaic. Every other share button I've found has been way too large and didn't fit beneath my posts.
This is perfect! I'm going to check out your other Blogger advice!

  131. @kathcom : You're welcome. I had used ShareThis gadget; it was pretty good but wasn't that what people used. I had read an artical from google, it says; most of the people click direct share buttons and if they want to stay on that page they open links in a new tab or a new page. This is the reason of where this share buttons born. No script, no popups; just direct links...

I'm glad you like it by the way. I hope it helps.

  135. @Umair Panhyar : Basicly; we send links to Facebook and it chooses an image for thumbnail itself. We don't send any information for images. In this case; we don't have a solution. Sorry about that... Most of the web sites gets the first big image on HTML page. Maybe Facebook trying something new, Maybe some codes in your page making a thumbnail automaticaly. But I don't know.

  137. @Ricky : Your template is different. In this case you should find (post-header-line-1) or (metaItem). And paste code after somewhere these codes.

  138. I dumped my Add This buttons for yours and I'm so glad I did. One question: are you going to add the "+1" button? I cobbled it together myself but I'd prefer to have them all in one!
Thanks for making this so easy!

    ReplyDelete
  139. @kathcom : Hello, You're welcome. I'm glad you like it. +1 Button is a modern script and It works with only few modern browsers. I'm using Google+'s official script on my blog; Until we get another option, I reccomend to use official script. If It will be possible to use it like other buttons, I'll add it, too. By now you should try this http://www.google.com/webmasters/+1/button/

  140. Still cant fine that 2 code..pls help..thanks

    ReplyDelete
  141. @Ricky : You need to make active "Expand Widget Template" on template editor page. If there isn't post-footer-line-1 , there is post-header-line-1 you can use it, too.

  146. hi..
thanks for the beautiful, awesome share button..but I've some problem..
my button show vertically instead of horizontally..
i just copy all your code and paste it in my design..
from all the comment above, i think only me that have this problem.

  147. @FakhriN : Salamun Aleykum, I've checked your blogs, they are using custom templates; in this case probably there is a code for images that doing this...

You can try to remove all empty spaces between button codes. A button code starts with < End with > Or you can paste just codes one by one without spaces. I hope it helps.
